Soannefair presents her debut album “Herero”.
Recorded during the pandemic in various locations, "Herero" took a year and a half to complete. This is a multidimensional album that pushes the boundaries of pop fearlessly, while refusing to confine itself within one single genre. Sometimes danceable, sometimes experimental and sometimes melancholic, "Herero" encloses nuggets of the present, aspiring to transport the listener to possible future realities.

Soannefair started writing "Herero" on the Greek island of Paros in the summer of 2020, right after the first quarantine. Spending her days on the beach, she exposed her body and soul to the healing power of the sun, the moonlit nights and the strong winds that rule the island in August. It was a liberating experience that planted the seed for “Herero".

The inspiration for "Herero" came from the earth, animals and the impact that technology has on human psychology and societies. The lyrics to most of the songs are a metaphor for love. Romantic and sexual love are used as a vehicle for how people choose to behave on the planet and the animals on it. Eventually, all forms of love, brotherly, motherly, friendly and erotic, are explored. The lockdowns that took place around the globe provided a good opportunity to reflect on the impact that human activity has on other life forms. Although the album's songs have been inspired by ecological disasters, the goal of the album could not be further from creating feelings of guilt or fear.


"Herero" is a journey of exploring identities, with no answers, only questions to be asked, and feelings and thoughts to be expressed. It is the voice of hope, optimism and love.
